The victory was Montana State’s first Big Sky Conference win of the season.
Burrows, whose previous career-high was set at Portland State last winter, connected on 13-of-22 from the field and nine-of-12 from the free throw line.
“Kati had a phenomenal night and we did a great job getting her the ball,” said MSU head coach Greg Kudrna. “It’s nice to get the first Big Sky win under our belts. Now, hopefully, we can use it as a springboard for the rest of the season.”
Also hitting double-figures for Montana State (7-11, 1-4) was Alyssa Nelson with 12 points. The Edina, Minnesota native also chipped in six assists, three steals and two rebounds.
Montana State led the entire game, after Burrows opened the first half with a free throw. MSU built its largest lead at 37-19 at the 5:22 mark on a Hillary Scott basket. The Bobcats held a 41-27 advantage at intermission.
In the second stanza, Portland State (2-15, 0-5) opened with a 7-0 run to cut the margin to 41-34 at the 16:32 mark on a Marla Morin field-goal. The Vikings closed to within 53-48 with 9:02 remaining on a pair of free throws by Lisa Thomas. MSU responded with six consecutive points to open a double-digit lead and cruised down the stretch for the win.
