Bobcat Women’s Tennis Team Drops Season-Opener at Utah State

“Considering that Utah State had already played some matches, and it was our season-opener, I’m proud of the way our kids competed,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “Our two freshmen newcomers won at Nos. 1-2 and that was pretty exciting to see.”
Montana State captured No. 1 singles, where newcomer Nicole Luetolf posted a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Lindsey Bennion. Freshman Nuria Lozano followed suit at No. 2 singles posting a 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 win over Jill Smith.
“It was great to be competing against someone other than ourselves,” Albrecht said. “We played without the services of two kids (Ivette Duran and Katy Clarke) who were a big part of our line-up last year. We have good depth this season and it was great that we could get some of the younger athletes valuable experience.”
The MSU women’s tennis team will host Utah, Montana and Northern Colorado next weekend in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
