Bobcat Women Drop Second Straight Overtime Decision

“I’m proud with how we fought and with our defensive effort, but turning the ball over 28 times is unacceptable,” said MSU head coach Greg Kudrna. “We have to value the ball. It gave Sacramento eight more opportunities.”
Montana State’s (6-9, 0-2) Hillary Scott hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to force an extra period. MSU’s Kati Burrows, who was hampered with two early fouls and played only four first half minutes, took over in the second half. The Bozeman native scored all 26 points in the second stanza on 10-of-14 from the field, before fouling out with 1:12 remaining.
Also contributing to the Bobcat attack was freshman Brandie Buckless with 12 points, all coming from beyond the arc. Burrows paced MSU under the glass with eight rebounds, while Scotta Morton added seven.
MSU played the game without the services of three-point sharp-shooter Jaimey Tanner, who is sidelined with a concussion.
For the game, MSU shot 44 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Hornets 43-36. However, the ‘Cats struggled from the free throw line converting six-of-14 attempts.
Sacramento State (5-10, 1-2) had four players in double-digits, including Lindsey Heard 16, Katelyn Ciampi 14, Cindy Alldrin 13, and Kim Sheehy 12.
MSU has played four overtime games this season and have a 1-3 record.
The Bobcats will play at Northern Arizona, Saturday night.
