Bobcat Skiers Finish Seventh at Alaska-Anchorage Invitational

Denver won the team title with 541 points, followed by New Mexico 493.5, Colorado 487, Utah 486, UAA 465.5, Nevada 380, MSU 367, Western State 256, Whitman 135 and Boise State 44.
Robins, a native of Tahoe City, Calif, notched a career-best 52 points for two events. On the men’s side, Mark Iverson paced MSU with a two-day total of 43 points, which included a ninth place finish in the 15-kilometer freestyle and 11th place showing in the 10-kilometer classic events.
In all, the MSU nordic team scored 186 points for the Bobcats- its best total in the last two years.
In the alpine events, Montana State was led by the Munteanu sisters. Alex Munteanu paced MSU in the giant slalom, finishing 11th overall in a two-run total of 1:47.66. Younger sister Smaranda Munteanu guided the ‘Cats in the slalom, placing 10th with a time of 1:33.10.
The Montana State men’s alpine squad was led by Cory Harris, who placed 10th in the slalom in a clocking of 1:41.95. MSU’s top finisher in the giant slalom was Tyler Smedsrud, who finished 31st in a time of 1:43.36.
The Bobcat skiers will be off this week, before competing in the Denver Invitational, Jan. 28-29.
