Bobcat Veterans Pace Montana State Cross Country Time Trials

The men’s squad was paced by Casey Jermyn, Jonathan Gibson and Josh Ricardi, who all covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 15:52.8. Rounding out MSU’s top five were Joseph Wirtz and Tony Bachmann.
The men’s team was running without the services of All-Big Sky Conference performer Kevin Clary, who was sidelined with an illness.
“The top three really cruised and I was happy to see freshman Joseph Wirtz up among the leaders,” said MSU head coach Dale Kennedy. “We missed Kevin Clary and we have some kids that have a little work ahead of them, but in all, I thought it was a good day.”
The MSU women were paced by all-league selection Mayra Morgado, who finished the course in a time of 18:34.7. Morgado was followed by newcomers Ashley Hadway 18:43.1, and Bozeman native Elisabeth Driscoll 18:51.6.
The women’s team was missing newcomer Stephanie Carter from illness. Carter is tabbed to be among MSU’s top five this season.
“Mayra really set the tone for the women’s squad,” Kennedy said. “It was also nice to see how our new kids performed as well. I’m pretty excited about the future of the women’s program.”
The Bobcats will open their season hosting the MSU Invitational, Sept. 18.
