“We competed and battled point-for-point, but our passing had a trickle down effect and we didn’t get the job done,” said MSU second-year head coach Miya Malauulu. “When we aren’t passing well, it affects the way we run our offense, and that was the case in this match.”
Montana State (3-1) was paced in the loss by Megan Zanto with 14 kills, a .429 attack mark and six blocks. Also contributing to the Bobcat effort was Kamber Kelly with 32 assists and 11 digs. Kandice Kelly tallied a match-high 18 digs for MSU.
For their efforts, Zanto and Kamber Kelly were named to the all-tournament team.
The Crimson Tide (4-0) were led by Erin Heffner and Kelley Potter with 15 and 12 kills, respectively.
The Bobcat will host the 10th annual Holiday Inn Classic, Sept. 10-11, in Shroyer Gym. MSU opens against Dartmouth at 3 p.m. on Friday.
