Cal Poly 27, Montana State 14 – September 18 in Bobcat Stadium, Bozeman
INJURY REPORT: Starting linebacker Nick Marudas’ season ended Saturday when the junior from Bozeman suffered a broken leg. Marudas’ injury was the only major injury the team suffered.

TEAM NOTES
• In 2002, the only other time Montana State has played Adams State in its football history, the Bobcats beat the Grizzlies then lost the next week. That form held this year, also, as MSU beat Adams State before losing Saturday to Cal Poly.
• Travis Doroski again did an outstanding job Saturday, getting two touchbacks on his three kickoffs, with a third resulting in a possession that began inside the Cal Poly 20
• Montana State’s five touchbacks on Saturday is more than the team recorded in all of 2003 (three, two of which came in the season opener)
• After fumbling four times in the season opener, more than the team fumbled in any one game in 2003, Montana State didn’t fumble in Saturday’s loss to Cal Poly
• Travis Lulay averaged over 40 yards per punt for the second straight game on Saturday
• MSU opponents have only 22 return yards on Travis Lulay’s 12 punts this year, and managed just 27 return yards against Lulay in 2003
• Montana State had the ball inside the red zone on its last two possessions of the first half Saturday and failed to score either time
• After only three opponents had 100-yard receiving days against the Bobcats last year, Darrell Jones had eight catches for 123 yards and a touchdown on Saturday
• Of Cal Poly’s 19 pass attempts, MSU broke up three and intercepted another
• Montana State drew a crowd over 12,337 to Saturday’s contest with Cal Poly, after drawing 12,267 against Adams State the week before. The third straight home crowd of over 12,000, dating to last season’s Grizzly game, is an MSU first. This year’s first two games marks the fourth time MSU has drawn two crowds over 12,000 in the same season, and the second time MSU has drawn consecutive crowds of 12,000 fans or more in the same season.
• Montana State University honored Major Alira Johnson-Dannaher at Saturday’s football game by having her present the game ball to the Big Sky officials. Johnson-Dannaher was inducted into the Wendy’s/MSU Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday night, just days after returning to the U.S. from Iraq, where she was working in the Army Signal Corps. Johnson-Dannaher will return to Iraq in December for a one-year tour of duty.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES/PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
OFFENSE: WR Chaz Guinn, 6-2, 215, Jr, Fullerton, CA
Chaz Guinn caught five passes for 60 yards Saturday.
OTHER NOTES: Travis Lulay was MSU’s leading rusher Saturday, with 49 yards on 13 carries… running backs Justin Domineck and Morris Milton gained just 41 yards on 23 carries… Chaz Guinn led the team in receptions and receiving yards for the second straight game.
DEFENSE: DT Ray Sebestyen, 6-3, 265, Sr, San Diego, CA
Ray Sebestyen stripped Cal Poly running back Adam George of the ball on the first possession of the game at the Mustang 41, setting up Montana State’s first touchdown. Sebestyen also caused and recovered another fumble, and had two solo tackles and two assists on the day. His two fumbles forced and two recovered are both career firsts.
OTHER NOTES: FS Ryan Force intercepted a pass for the second straight game, giving the sophomore three in his career… Force also broke up a pass… In his first extensive action as a Bobcat, Eddie Smith had four tackles, including one for a loss… Jonathan Molock had eight tackles, one for a loss.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Brandon Roosevelt, 5-11, 175, So, Wilsonville, OR
Roosevelt returned three kickoffs Saturday for 68 yards, including one for 38 yards. OTHER NOTES: MSU’s Tyler Bolton connected on both his extra points, although he had a field goal attempt blocked… MSU suffered one botched snap on a field goal, resulting in Matt McCullough replacing Rick Coppack as the team’s holder.
