The match was played in Centerville, Ohio, 45-minutes northwest of Columbus.
“We were a step slow on defense,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “I didn’t think we served tough enough in the first two games. We did a better job in the third game and it was much closer.”
As a team, Ohio State hit .390 from the floor, while the Bobcats hit a respectable .265. Both teams notched five team blocks and the Buckeyes held a 41-30 advantage in digs.
Individually, MSU was paced by Megan Zanto with eight kills, while Meggie Malyurek added seven kills and five digs. Sophomore Kandice Kelly paced the Bobcats with a team-high eight digs.
OSU’s Gordon was named tournament MVP, after averaging over eight kills per game in the championship match. Angela Wiebe, Kandice Kelly and Kim Stonehouse were named to the all-tournament team for Montana State.
The Bobcats will open their 2004 Big Sky Conference season at Idaho State on Friday night.
