Montana State Spikers Sweep by Panthers

For the second straight match, Montana State’s (8-2) middle blockers were unstoppable as Megan Zanto and Angela Wiebe combined for 17 kills and 14 blocks. Zanto, a native of Helena, finished with a match-high 11 kills, while adding a .647 attack mark and six blocks. Wiebe, a 6-foot-1 native of Winnipeg had six kills and a match-high eight blocks.
“We served tough and took them out of their rhythm,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “I’m really excited with the play of our middles. Kandice Kelly also did a great job of passing the ball and she had a very strong defensive match, as well.”
Also contributing to the Bobcat attack was Meggie Malyurek with nine kills, a .474 attack mark and a match-high 13 digs. Setter Kamber Kelly dished out 34 assists and added 12 digs, seven blocks and two aces.
Florida International (1-7) was led in the loss by Dyionna Smith with five kills and 21 assists.
Montana State will face #25 Ohio State in the championship match of the Buckeye Classic on Saturday evening.
