Casey Jermyn, a senior from Plains and one of the most decorated distance runners in MSU history, will pace the men’s squad, while Mayra Morgado, an All-Big Sky Conference performer and native of Wenatchee, Wash., will anchor the Bobcat women.
“Casey and Mayra are outstanding choices to lead their respective squads,” Kennedy said. “They lead by example both on and off the course.”
Jermyn was the 2002 Big Sky Conference cross country champion and redshirted last fall. During last year’s indoor track and field season, he captured titles at 3000 and 5000-meters, en route to being named Big Sky Indoor most valuable performer.
Morgado finished ninth at last year’s league meet and garnered BSC all-academic honors in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.
The Bobcat cross country teams will open their season this Saturday with the MSU Invitational held at Bridger Creek Golf Course.
