Montana State Spikers Cruise by Big Green in Holiday Inn Classic Opener

As a team, Montana State (4-1) hit .437 from the floor and out-blocked the Big Green 10 to one. Also contributing to the Bobcat attack were LeAnn Kinvig with eight kills and six blocks, and Megan Zanto and Kim Stonehouse with seven kills, apiece. MSU setter Kamber Kelly dished out 39 assists and recorded seven digs.
“We passed the ball early in the match and that allowed us to be successful with our offensive system,” said MSU second-year head coach Miya Malauulu. “It was also nice to get everyone involved in the match. It was fun to watch the freshman do so well in the final game.”
Bobcat freshmen Patti Anderson and Carly Johnson recorded their first kills for MSU. Anderson, a walk-on from Deer Lodge, ended the match with four kills, while Johnson added two kills and three blocks.
In early round matches, Boise State defeated Buffalo 3-0, while Portland handed Dartmouth a 3-0 setback.
The Bobcats will play Buffalo tonight at 7 p.m.
