“The pace of practice is good. There is a calm in the air, a sense of confidence.” - Mike Kramer, on his team’s attitude

25 days til MSU vs Adams St, 9/11
* * * COMINGS AND GOINGS * * *
Add Ryan Kelly to the list of newly-signed Bobcats. Kelly is a high school defensive back who the Bobcats signed this summer from Serra High School in Los Angeles. “Ryan moves very well,” said MSU coach Mike Kramer. “He’s able to make the turn. He’s very athletic.” Kelly will play cornerback for the ‘Cats.
* * * DAY ONE DOINGS * * *
Mike Kramer knows his Bobcat team is young. He knows he has only one for-sure senior starter on offense, and only two more than that on defense.
To him, though, it doesn’t seem that way. “It felt like a very veteran practice,” he said of MSU’s first session of the fall, a non-contact practice that lasted two hours for veterans. “I like how smooth and coordinated we are, and I like our confidence. The young guys already have the demeanor of being able to practice with precision.”
Kramer was pleased with his coaching staff’s decision to begin practice with an hour of “pup” instruction, time for the coaches to work exclusively with newcomers and very young returners. “I thought the teaching and learning was excellent. Their heads are swimming, but this gives our coaches a chance to orient those young players to how we do things in our program, and it gives the new players and coaches a chance to know each other.”
