Bobcats Add Talent Entering Camp

One week before the beginning of fall camp, Montana State coach Mike Kramer re-crafted his tight ends group Tuesday by signing a prep standout from California and elevating two in-state walk-ons to scholarship status.
Brian Ouilhon, a 6-5, 230-lb tight end from Rockland, CA, has signed a scholarship offer and will join the Bobcats next week. Ouilhon (pronounced OOL-yawn) was his team's MVP last fall, and was a three-time all-conference choice at Rockland High. He also earned a berth in the Optimist All-Star Game.
Ouilhon joins a pair of in-state freshman tight ends, Nick Parker from Missoula Loyola and Brandon Bostick from Missoula Big Sky, who originally announced their intentions to join the program at walk-ons but who were upgraded to scholarships this summer. Parker earned a berth to the Class B All-Star Game, and Bostick was an all-conference player at Big Sky.
"We're less experienced at tight end heading into camp than we thought we'd be," said Bobcat coach Mike Kramer, "but we'll be young." Kramer indicated that Ouilhon, Parker and Bostick will compete for playing time behind returning starter Blake Wolf.
In addition to shoring up the tight end position, Kramer said the Bobcats signed two other California prep standouts to scholarships this summer. Wesley Mauia, a 6-0, 205-lb linebacker from Edison High in Stockton, Calif., joins the Bobcat program. He was a two-time first team all-league choice. Mike Brown is a 5-9, 170-lb receiver from Lakewood, Calif. He was a standout at Lakewood High.
"We have a tradition of finding good players in the summer," Kramer said. "Mike and Wes are products of our never-ending search for talented players. Mike is a receiver we feel can be very productive, and Wes is a prototypical middle linebacker. I expect both players to have very good careers at Montana State."
