'Cats Ink Alaska Sprinter

Stevie McDowell, a standout sprinter from Alaska, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Montana State track and field program, MSU coach Dale Kennedy announced Tuesday.
McDowell, from Colony High in Wasilla, AK, finished third in the state 100m and 200m in 2003. Her best marks are 12.30 in the 100 and 25.50 in the 200, but MSU coach Dale Kennedy said her range may go beyond the short sprints.
"Stevie's coaches told me that they think she's a good candidate for the long jump, and I think she also may be a great candidate for the hurdles," Kennedy said. "I'm really excited about adding Stevie to our program. Of all the kids we've signed, she has the fastest credentials, and good speed almost always translates into success, regardless of the event."
