Hammer Time!

Less than three months ago, Jen Allen wondered if she'd ever win a Big Sky Conference title. Montana State's senior thrower from Billings owned the school record in every event in which she competes, she'd been to nationals, she'd done about all there is to do. But before this springs Big Sky Indoor Championships, she hadn't won a Big Sky title.
Now, she can't seem to stop.
Allen won her third conference championship of the spring Friday, taking the hammer throw with a solid toss of 195-10, and finished second in the discus with a 152-6.
A day after MSU grabbed first and second in the decathlon, the Bobcats dominated the women's hammer throw, finishing 1-2-6-7-8. Allen's title was her first in Big Sky outdoor competition. Ashley Jones posted a four-foot personal best of 178-0 to finish second, while Karen Helvey (sixth, 165-11), Carra Greyn (seventh, 165-0), and Lynn Craver (eighth, 162-5) also scored points for the Bobcats.
Karen Helvey finished third (141-9, a personal best), Lynn Craver fifth (141-2), and Amanda McCready eighth (138-0) in the discus.
Lindsey Burrington set a personal best (63.51) to advance to the finals of the women's 400 hurdles, while Torey Schaefer set a season's best of 12.72 in the 100, although she didn't advance to the finals.
