Montana State Tennis Teams Hit the Road

The Montana State women’s and men’s tennis squads will be on the road this weekend as both teams play a pair of matches away from the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
The Montana State women will play a non-conference match on Thursday, April 8 at 4 p.m. against Cal State Northridge. The match will be played in Arizona at the Sedona Racquet Club. The women will continue weekend action when they face Big Sky Conference opponent Northern Arizona, Saturday, April 10 at noon. The match will also be played in Sedona.
Montana State (7-12) will be led by sophomore Vera Vasileva, who has notched a 9-9 mark playing at No. 1 singles this spring.
The MSU men’s tennis team will travel to Boise, Idaho, this weekend. The Bobcats will open play on Friday, April 9 at 12:30 p.m. against San Francisco, and will face top 35 ranked Boise State, Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
“It will be a tough weekend,” said MSU men’s coach Mike Phillips. “San Francisco is a very similar team to ours. They have posted the same results against common opponents.
“The Boise State match will give us a good opportunity to play at a high level,” Phillips said. “Hopefully, we can come away with some good wins.”
The Montana State (12-3) men’s team is led by No. 1 singles player Federico Ueltschi, who is ranked No. 80 in this week’s college tennis poll. The sophomore from Mendoza, Argentina is 24-5 overall and 13-2 in dual match play this season.
