Golf Squad Lands Boise Standout

Stephanie Simmons, a golf standout from Timberline High School in Boise, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Montana State golf team next fall, MSU coach Brittany Basye announced Monday.
Simmons finished fifth in the Idaho High School State Championships last spring. She finished in the top 10 of all 17 tournaments in which she competed last summer, with a stroke average of 79.03. She won a tournament last July at Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman, firing a 74-71/148.
"Stephanie is a very talented player who has a lot of regional and national playing experience," Basye said. "She has a great golf background. I expect that she'll help us out right away."
Simmons is the first MSU signee this year, and Basye indicated that she expects to sign at least one more student-athlete this spring.
