Bobcat Golfers Open Spring

Montana State's women's golf team opens its spring season this weekend with a week-long stretch of two tournaments in the Phoenix area.
The Bobcats play in a tournament hosted by Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan beginning on Friday, and on Monday host the Bobcat Dessert Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
"The players are extremely happy to get to green grass and play some actual holes," said MSU coach Brittany Basye. "We have been weight training and practicing at the indoor facility at least four times a week, so the players are getting some swings in."
MSU faces a group of Midwestern schools in the Western Michigan tournament, and competes against a field tilted more to the west on Monday. Basye said that, despite facing a pair of strong tournaments, she is excited about her team starting strong. "I feel we will have a good start because of the energy that the players are showing and the anxious air they seem to be having the last couple of weeks. Kylie (Anderson) is back to good health so I am expecting good things from her, and from the whole team."
Senior Tiffani Spring averaged 76 strokes per round in the fall, and Kristina Kurcinka 79, to lead the Bobcats. "I expect those two to start well and have a good spring," Basye said.
