MSU Faces Old FB Rivals in '04

Non-conference games against four old regional rivals and a six home games highlights Montana State’s 2004 football schedule, MSU Athletic Director Peter Fields announced on Thursday.
The Bobcats open the 2004 season at home for the third straight year, facing Adams State of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and also play home games against Cal Poly and South Dakota State. MSU has played the Mustangs seven times in the past nine seasons, and the ‘Cats faced SDSU 11 straight years from 1956 to ‘66, perhaps the most successful 11-year period in school history.
Montana State’s only non-conference road game is against a second foe from Colorado and another former Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe, Colorado State, on Setpember 25 in Fort Collins. The Rams’s coaching staff features a pair of former Bobcat head coaches, Ram head coach Sonny Lubick and assistant coach Dave Arnold.
MSU’s home slate is highlighted by a three-game October home stretch that features Weber State, MSU’s Homecoming opponent on October 9, and perennial Big Sky title contender Portland State a week later. South Dakota State comes to town for a rare late October non-conference date on October 23. The Bobcats’ home slate concludes with Eastern Washington on November 13. The team finishes with three of its last four on the road, including a regular season finale at Montana on November 20.
