Bobcats Open Outdoor Season

Paced by a dominant performance by its throws crew, Montana State opened the outdoor track and field season on Saturday.
MSU's javelin throwers finished 1-2-3, with Amanda Emslie, Kim Berg, and Lindsay Gill all hitting the Big Sky Conference qualifying mark. MSU throwers occupied spots 1-through-7 in the women's hammer throw, with redshirt Megan Lee, Mary Jo Kraft, and Lynn Craver finishing first through third. Kraft and Craver hit the Big Sky qualifying mark.
"I thought it was a good day, even with the blustery weather, especially for our throwers," said MSU coach Dale Kennedy. "The throwers were really outstanding today."
Amy Jones won the high jump with a qualigying mark of 5-3.75, and Ed Keefe began his outdoor season by winning the pole vault with a mark of 16-0.75. Decathletes Brad Benjamin, Steve Hodge, and Jim Evans held the first three spots in that event.
