Munteanu Sisters Lift Montana Skiers to 12th Place at NCAA Championships

The siblings from Stratton, Vermont totaled 50 points, to move MSU into 12th overall after the first day of the national meet. Denver leads the hunt for the national title with 188 points, followed by Vermont 168, New Mexico 155, Middlebury 150.5, Utah 137, Dartmouth 126, Colby 112.5, Colorado 107, Nevada 83, Williams 68, Alaska-Anchorage 57, MSU 50, New Hampshire 44, Boise State 41, Whitman 21, Bates 16 and Western State 6.
Freshman Smaranda Munteanu notched a two-run combined time of 2:01.14, including a first run clocking of 1:00.42. Older sister Alex Munteanu finished the day with a time of 2:01.65, including a first-run clocking of 1:00.47.
Denver’s Jennifer Delich captured the women’s giant slalom title with a time of 1:59.18.
On Thursday, the nordic races will take place, as Emily Robins and Chris Coe compete for the Bobcats.
