Bobcat Women Travel to Pacific Northwest

For the second straight season Dave Cowan will handle play-by-play duties of ALL regular and postseason Bobcat games on KSCY 96.7 (The Sky) FM. Cowan will begin his broadcast with a pre-game show 20-minutes prior to tip.
Time to Make a Move:
The Bobcat women’s basketball team will be looking for its first Big Sky road win of the season when they travel to Eastern Washington and Portland State this weekend. MSU is currently sitting in sixth place and is two games behind Eastern Washington and one game ahead of Portland State. MSU swept the same road trip last winter, which included 101-62 victory at EWU.
Scouting The Opponents:
Eastern Washington, who was tabbed to finish third in the Big Sky preseason coaches poll, is currently 10-8 overall and 3-2 in league action. Last weekend, the Eagles dropped a pair of road games, losing at Idaho State (92-61) and Weber State (61-55). EWU has been led this winter by senior post player Kathleen Nygaard, who is averaging a Big Sky Conference best 20.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Also averaging double-digits for Eastern Washington is Stephanie Ulmer, who is tossing in 11.6 points per contest. Portland State is 3-16 overall and 0-5 in Big Sky play. PSU will host Montana, before meeting the Bobcats on Saturday. The Vikings are led this season by Sarah Hedgepeth and Heidi Stuart, who average 14.8 and 11.7 points, respectively.

The Bobcats are 30-23 all-time against Eastern Washington in a series that started in 1975-76. The ‘Cats have won the last six straight against EWU, with their last loss to the Eagles coming on March 2, 2000. MSU is 18-11 all-time against Portland State, including a 9-5 mark in Big Sky Conference play.
Montana State Player of the Week:
Junior Kati Burrows was named the Montana State University Player of the Week for her efforts against Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. The 5-foot-10 native of Bozeman, averaged 18 points and eight rebounds, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 75 percent from the line in the two games. She recorded her fourth double-double of the year with 15 pts. and 10 rebs. vs. Sac State.
