Bobcats fall to Weber State 59-76, in Ogden, Utah

The Montana State Men’s Basketball team was defeated by Weber State 59-76, in Ogden, Utah. Two Bobcats scored in double figures in a losing effort, led by Jason Erickson who finished the game with 22 points and one assist. True freshman PJ Owsley had a career high 10 points to go with one assist.
Weber State shot 52.4 percent from the field in the first half while Montana State shot 47.4 percent. Weber State had a 14-8 rebounding edge going into the half.
Trailing at the half 22-32 the Bobcats came into the second half with an 8-2 run with PJ Owsley’s free throw 30-34. Four points was the closest the Bobcats would get.
“They pretty much knocked down every open shot they got” coach Mick Durham said after the Bobcats loss referring to the shooting of Weber State.
Also contributing to the Bobcat attack were Frank Brown and Dennis Woodall who both scored five points for the Bobcats, which shot 51.1 percent from the field while holding Weber State to 47.8 percent for the game. Montana State made 14-of-26 shots (53.8 percent) in the second half and went 7-of-17 from 3-point range in the game.
The Bobcats were out-rebounded by the Wildcats 30-21.
Montana State went 6-9 from the free throw line shooting 66.7 percent while Weber State went 22-26 from the free throw line shooting 84.6 percent.
Weber State (11-12, 4-6) got 19 points and two assists from John Hamilton. Lance Alldred, who came in averaging 12.4 points a game, was held to five points and made just 1-of-3 field goal attempts.
Montana State (13-11, 5-6); will play next Saturday when they face the University of Montana Grizzlies.
