Idaho State Women Fend-off Bobcats

With the scored tied at 49-all at the 11:21 mark of the second stanza, Idaho State (15-5, 7-1) used a 9-2 run to take a 58-51 advantage following a Lindy Whitely three-pointer with 8:31 remaining. ISU built its largest margin of the second half at 73-61 on an Annie Anderson field-goal with 3:27 left to help secure the victory.
The Bengals were led in the victory by Anderson with 22 points and ten rebounds, while Laraine Barron and Whitely added 19 and 14 points, apiece. ISU also held a 40-37 advantage on the boards as Molly Hays and Anderson each collected ten rebounds.
Also contributing to the Montana State (10-11, 2-6) effort were Belinda Stubbs and Jana Smith with ten points each. Senior Sheila Hutchison paced the Bobcats under the boards with eight rebounds.
For the game, both squads shot 43 percent from the field; however, Idaho State shot 11-of-24 from three-point range, while MSU connected on only four-of-14 from beyond the long distance arc.
In the first half, the Bobcats opened the game on a 6-0 run, before Idaho State roared back to take an 18-10 advantage at the 11:35 mark on an Anderson basket. The Bengals cruised to their largest lead of the game at 29-16 on a Blair Massey field goal with 4:41 remaining in the first period, before Montana State answered with a 14-4 run to close the deficit to 33-30 at intermission.
Burrows finished the game 10-of-21 from the floor, while adding three assists and three steals. Connolly, a 6-foot-3 native of Ennis, had her best game at MSU, connecting on six-of-nine from the field, including a three-of-six effort from three-point range.
MSU will host Weber State on Saturday night.
