Bobcat Women Host Idaho State and Weber State

For the second straight season Dave Cowan will handle play-by-play duties of ALL regular and postseason Bobcat games on KSCY 96.7 (The Sky) FM. Cowan will begin his broadcast with a pre-game show 20-minutes prior to tip.
Home Sweet Home:
After making the Big Sky Conference turn at 2-5, the Montana State women’s basketball team will play four of its last seven games within the friendly confines of the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Under head coach Robin Potera-Haskins, the Bobcats have recorded a 29-8 ledger beneath the wooden arches of Worthington Arena. This week’s opponents feature the second and third place squads in the Big Sky Conference. Both teams defeated the Bobcats in the first week of the league schedule in mid January.
Scouting The Opponents:
Idaho State is the surprise of the Big Sky this season. The Bengals are 14-5 overall and 6-1 in BSC action, with its only loss to Montana. ISU has five players averaging double-figures, including Molly Hays (13.5), Heidi Gifford (12.4), Lindy Whitely (11.3), Annie Anderson (10.6) and Christina Brossman (10.6). Under the boards, the Benglas are led by freshman and Missoula native Molly Hays, who is pulling down 8.6 rebounds per outing. Weber State is one of the hottest teams in the league winning nine of its last 11 games. WSU is 11-9 overall and 5-2 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats will play at UM, before meeting the Bobcats. WSU is led by reigning Big Sky co-MVP, Julie Gjertsen, who is averaging 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

MSU is 35-14 all-time vs. Idaho State; and 29-25 all-time vs. Weber State.
Montana State Player of the Week:
Junior Jana Smith was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts in MSU’s road split last weekend. The 5-foot-7 native of Ronan, averaged 24 points and 4.5 rebounds, while shooting 62 percent from the field, 70 percent from three-point land and 94 percent from the free throw line. Smith registered a career-high 26 points against Eastern Washington and had 22 points at Portland State, which included a four-of-four night from three-point range.
