For the third straight season Dave Cowan will handle play-by-play duties of ALL regular and postseason Bobcat games on 103.5 KZMY-FM. Cowan will begin his broadcast with a pre-game show 20-minutes prior to tip-off. MSU will play its fifth contest of a seven-game homestand on Tuesday. The homestand is the longest of its kind in school history. The Bobcats have posted a 3-1 at home, with its lone loss to Kent State. Last week, MSU rattled off three straight victories. After hosting Portland and Rocky Mountain, the ‘ Cats will face Texas State on Dec. 20, before taking its holiday break.
Wrapping Up the Week that Was:
The Bobcats went 3-0 last week defeating Utah Valley State 74-65, UC Irvine 67-52 and Montana Tech 100-55. After sturggling from the perimeter against Louisiana-Lafayette and Kent State, MSU hit at a 46 percent clip from the field, including a 45 percent effort from three-point range. Sophomore Scotta Morton averaged a team-high 17.3 points per game , which included a career-high 20 points against Utah Valley State. Kati Burrows and Hillary Scott also averaged double-digits at 16.7 and 11.7 points, respectively. Other weekend highlights included Brandie Buckless’ career-high 15 points against Montana Tech and Jaimey Tanner’s 8-of-13 effort from beyond the arc.
The Scouting Report:
The University of Portland is 2-5 overall, after dropping a 75-68 decision at the University of Montana on Sunday afternoon. The Pilots were paced in the loss by Jamie Medley and Whitney Grant with 13 points, apiece. UP owns the all-time series with the Bobcats 8-5; however, Montana State has won the last two outings, including a 68-62 decision last winter in the Rose City.
Montana State Player of the Week:
Senior Kati Burrows was named Montana State Player of the Week, after averaging 16.7 points and 7.7 rebounds as the Bobcats posted a 3-0 mark last week. For the three games, she shot 49 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line. In addition, Burrows averaged four assists and two steals per game. Against UC Irvine on Friday night, the Bozeman native notched a career-high seven assists.
