Bobcat Women Can't Dig Out of Early Hole

Despite 18 points and five assists from Hillary Scott, Montana State (6-5) couldn't overcome a poor first half and a 24-of-37 performance from Utah State at the free throw line.
"We have to learn to play a full 40-minutes," said MSU head coach Greg Kudrna. "We were encouraged; however, that we didn't get rattled and battled back. We believed we could get back into the game, and we did just that."
With 2:28 remaining, Scott hit one-of-two from the line to tie the score at 52-all. USU (5-5) then converted five-of-eight from the line and an offensive put-back to ice the game.
"We weren't playing at game speed, and coupled with almost 30 more attempts from the free throw line by Utah State, the odds of winning weren't great," Kudrna added. "But, like I said, we're very happy with the way we battled back and that is the intensity we need for a full 40- minutes."
MSU shot 42 percent for the game, while limiting the Aggies to 27 percent, including a four-of- 28 effort in the second stanza. USU won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Bobcats 43-36 which included a whopping 20 offensive rebounds by Utah State.
Also giving the Bobcats a strong effort was freshman redshirt Katie Proietti with seven points and eight rebounds. Proietti's output was matched by Kati Burrows, before she fouled out late in the game.
MSU will play at Brigham Young on Tuesday night.
