Montana State Women Use Big Second Half to Bury Anteaters

Montana State (3-2) trailed 26-22 at intermission, after only shooting 29 percent from the field.
In the second stanza, the Bobcats took their first lead of the game at 33-32 on a Kati Burrows free throw. MSU then used a 13-2 run midway through the second half, capped by a Jaimey Tanner three-pointer at the eight-minute mark, to give the Bobcats a 49-39 advantage.
MSU senior Hillary Scott scored 13 of her 15 points in the final 6:39 to secure the win for the Bobcats.
Tanner, Scott and Scotta Morton all tallied 15 points for MSU. Both Tanner and Morton finished with five three-pointers. The Bobcats were paced under the boards by Briana Fields and Alyssa Nelson with eight rebounds, while Kati Burrows established a career-high seven assists.
“We were out of sync in the first half and really struggled to get things going,” said MSU interim head coach Greg Kudrna. “As a coaching staff, we challenged them at halftime to pick up their intensity, and to their credit, they responded.”
UC Irvine (0-3) was led by Katie Cutis with 25 points, including a seven-of-11 effort from three-point range.
MSU will host Montana Tech, Saturday night in Worthington Arena.
