Bobcats Out-Shoot Lights

Ja'Ron Jefferson scored a career-high 25 points as Montana State withstood a late three-point flurry to top MSU-Northern 81-70 in Bozeman on Friday.
Jefferson scored in every way imaginable -- in transition, from beyond the three-point line, in the paint -- to lead the 'Cats, connecting on 9-of-17 from the field and 4-of-7 from the arc. He also grabbed five boards, had five steals, and dished out four assists in 30 minutes.
"Ja'Ron has played with a lot of confidence, and that has really helped us offensively," said MSU coach Mick Durham. "We were pretty ragged the last eight minutes, we had some breakdowns defensively and let their shooters get open. But we can't just concentrate on the last few minutes, we have to feel good about building a 30-point lead."
The 'Cats led 48-26 at halftime, and led by as many as 33 point, 66-33 with 13:34 to play. The team led 71-41 with 10:35 left, when MSU-Northern closed the game with a 29-10 run.
Cory Brothers led Northern with 24 points on 8-for-10 shooting. The Lights hit 13 of their 26 three-point attempts. "We talked about not letting their shooters get going, because they have some capable shooters," Durham said.
MSU raises its record to 2-6 on the season, and hosts Northern Colorado on Sunday at 2 pm.
