Bobcats Fall to Phoenix

Wisconsin-Green Bay used hot second-half shooting and a ceaseless parade to the free throw line to overcome a 10-point second-half deficit and beat Montana State 75-70 in Bozeman on Saturday.
After MSU limited the Phoenix to 37% shooting and no free throw attempts in the first half, UWGB got the ball inside in the second half and shot 63% from the field and 94% (16-for-17) from the line.
Still, Bobcat coach Mick Durham focused on his team's offense. "I think the difference in the game is that we shot 38% from the field," he said. "We got some good looks, too. We did a lot of good things defensively and rebounding, we just didn't shoot well enough."
Branden Miller scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bobcats, who outrebounded UWGB 37-to-36. Ryan Evanochko scored 19 points to lead Wisconsin-Green Bay.
The teams battled on mostly even terms throughout the first half until a three-point binge gave the 'Cats a double-digit lead at the intermission. Marvin Moss hit a triple with 53 seconds left in the half, then Casey Durham nailed a three with seven seconds left to give the 'Cats a 37-27 lead at the intermission.
MSU led by as many as 12 early in the second half, and led by 10 with 12:55 to play on Nick Dissly's three. UWGB then went on a 13-0 run to take a 57-54 lead with just under nine minutes left.
The Bobcats would lead only one more time, a short-lived 64-63 margin with six minutes left. The Phoenix then went on a 6-0 run, and the 'Cats could get no closer than two the rest of the way.
"We played lackadaisical in the second half," Miller said. "We stopped doing the things that got us the lead in the first half."
MSU kept UWGB's inside game in check, and owned a narrow margin on the boards, despite losing starting center Matt Towsley before the game to a recurring back injury. With 7-0 towsley and 6-10 Al Beye both out with injuries, the Bobcats started 6-6 Marvin Moss at center and 6-5 Dennis Woodall at power forward.
