Burrows Paces Bobcat Women Past Bears

The Bozeman native converted seven-of-12 from the field and eight-of-nine from the free throw line. In addition, she also notched three steals and an assist. Also in double-figures for Montana State (5-3) was Jaimey Tanner with 12 points, all coming from three-point range.
“We played uninspired basketball,” said MSU interim head coach Greg Kudrna. “Rocky is a good program to take too lightly, and to their credit, they played us tough for 40-minutes.”
Rocky Mountain (2-9) got off to a quick start taking a 15-10 lead at the 8:10 mark of the first stanza following a Jeri Matter three-pointer. The Bobcats answered with a 15-4 run to take its largest lead of the half at 25-19 on a Tanner trey. MSU entered intermission with a 29-26 advantage.
“We shot poorly and were out-rebounded in the first half,” Kudrna said. “I challenged them at half to pick up their intensity.”
Rocky Mountain’s Katherine Bitz opened the second half with a three-pointer to tie the score at 29-all. MSU responded with a 19-5 run to stake a 48-34 advantage with 13:54 remaining on an Alyssa Nelson trey. The Bobcats built their largest lead of the game at 72-54 with 2:26 remaining, following a Brandie Buckless field-goal. RMC scored the final seven points of the game to close to within eleven at the final buzzer.
The Bears were paced by Bitz and Jenny Balgua with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
MSU will be off until it hosts Texas State, Monday, Dec. 20 at 7:05 p.m.
