Dissly, a Bozeman native, recorded a game-high 18 points on eight-of-11 from the field to pace the Bobcats to an 86-47 victory over Regina in an exhibition contest, Saturday night in Worthington Arena. Also hitting double-figures for the Bobcats were newcomers Marvin Moss and Branden Miller with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
“Nick is a second-year player and is showing a lot of confidence,” Durham said. “That year under his belt is going to make a big difference.”
Playing without injured center Matt Towsley, junior college transfers Al Beye and Taylor Pratt guided MSU under the glass. Beye finished with eight points, a game-high 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Pratt chipped in eight points, eight rebounds and a game-high five blocks.
“Al and Taylor were very active on the inside,” Durham said. “I think everyone really wanted to make a good, first impression. We still have plenty to work on.”
Montana State jumped out to an early 16-2 lead on a Carson Durr three-pointer at the 14:06 mark and expanded the margin to 38-13 following a David Woodall trey with 3:39 remaining in the first stanza. The Bobcats entered intermission with a 39-17 advantage.
In the second half, MSU built its largest lead at 78-39 on another Woodall basket.
For the game, the Bobcats shot 47 percent from the field, including a ten-of-30 effort from three-point range. MSU also out-rebounded Regina 58 to 38.
The Bobcats will host the University of Calgary on Nov. 11 in Worthington Arena.
