Volleyball: Cat-Griz Meet in Worthington Arena

MSU has played its last two matches against the Grizzlies in Worthington Arena to accommodate large crowds. Two years ago, 6,378 fans jammed the fieldhouse, setting new MSU and Big Sky Conference attendance standards. Last fall, 4,741 fans saw the Bobcats defeat Montana 3-0. MSU will close out its home schedule when they host Portland State and Eastern Washington, Nov. 12 and 13.

CAT-CHAT: The Bobcats’ chances of winning the regular-season Big Sky title and hosting the league’s postseason tournament were pretty much dashed last weekend as MSU dropped matches at Northern Arizona and Sacramento State. If the Bobcats can win their final three matches, they are assured of finishing no lower than third place...MSU has recorded its tenth straight winning campaign, and will make their ninth consecutive appearance in the Big Sky Conference tournament...E. Washington, Sacramento State and MSU have already clinched spots in the Big Sky tourney...In this week’s RichKern.com/AVCA regional poll, MSU was ranked 15th in the Pacific poll. Washington was No. 1, while E. Washington is 12 and Sacramento State 13 ...Montana State is ranked 29th in attendance, averaging 1,044 fans. Hawaii leads the nation averaging 6,861 per match...Kamber Kelly became MSU’s all-time digs leader last weekend. Kelly’s career total stands at 1,200, surpassing Stephanie Laya’s mark of 1,183 set from 1997-2000.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Meggie Malyurek, a 6-foot outside hitter from Big Horn, Wyoming, was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts at Northern Arizona and Sacramento State, last weekend. Malyurek notched a pair of double-doubles on the weekend. Over the course of nine games, she averaged 3.56 kills and 4.00 digs, while adding three blocks and three aces. Malyurek had her best match of the weekend at Sacramento State, where she registered 17 kills, a .260 attack mark, 24 digs and three aces.
