Bobcats Face Challenging '05 Slate

Montana State faces an all-Division I slate in football in 2005, highlighted by a trip to Oklahoma State of the Big 12 Conference, and home games with traditional rival North Dakota State and Montana.
Next season will mark the third time in five years that the Bobcats have played an entirely Division I schedule, and will be one of the most difficult in school history. That doesn't concern MSU head coach Mike Kramer, though. "There are no gimmes," Kramer said, "this is a tough schedule. But we're not so concerned with who we play, we need to be concerned with ourselves."
Kramer said his team looks forward to the challenge, and the benefits, of playing a top 25 program such as Oklahoma State. "It's cool for us to open with a team like Oklahoma State," he said. "After playing that kind of team, the rest of the schedule doesn't seem so ferocious or fast."
MSU's opener at Oklahoma State marks MSU's first-ever meeting with the Cowboys, and the team's first trip to Oklahoma since losing at Tulsa in 1990, 20-2. The 'Cats have not played a Big 12 school since that league's inception in the 1990s, and Montana State's last game against a current member of the Big 12 was a 35-0 loss at Texas Tech in 1935.
The 'Cats rekindle intersectional rivalries with Cal Poly, North Dakota State and Stephen F. Austin in 2005. MSU has played Cal Poly seven times in the last nine years, with the Mustangs winning six straight. The 'Cats have met Stephen F. Austin three times previously, with a 2-1 mark. North Dakota State and the Bobcats have met 19 times, most recently a 21-19 MSU win in 1980. The 'Cats are 10-9 mark.
