Bobcat Cross Country Program Announces Award Winners

Gibson, a native of Woodinville, Wash., won the men’s Top Gun award given to the student-athlete scoring the most points throughout the season. Gibson, a mechanical engineering student, became a two-time All-Big Sky Conference performer, after finishing fourth at this year’s Big Sky Championships. He ran in the No. 1 position on three occasions and was No. 2, twice.
“Jonathan was a very steady performer for us this season,” Kennedy said. “When faced with illness and adversity with other teammates, he really stepped-up and led the squad.”
Driscoll, a true-freshman from Bozeman, ran in the No. 1 spot on two occasions, and the No. 2 position, twice. She earned all-conference accolades with a sixth place showing at the Big Sky Championships. In addition, Driscoll placed 20th in the district to garner All-NCAA Mountain Region honors.
“We had a feeling heading into the season that Elisabeth was capable of big things in her first year with the program,” Kennedy said. “We had a very balanced team this fall, and she established herself as one of our top three performers.”
Josh Ricardi and Kayla Larson were named most improved runners.
Ricardi, a senior from Gardiner, was a non-letterwinner in 2003; however, made a dramatic improvement this season. He ran in the No. 3 spot on numerous occasions and played a key role in MSU’s second place finish at the Big Sky Championships. In addition, Ricardi is a three-time Big Sky All-Academic honoree.
Larson, a freshman from Opheim, ran in MSU’s top five the entire season. She placed 21st overall at the Big Sky Conference meet and was awarded with a varsity letter for her efforts.
