Cooper Leads MSU Award Winners

Roger Cooper became the second straight Bobcat to share Big Sky Defensive MVP honors, Rick Gatewood was named the league's Co-Newcomer of the Year, and Travis Lulay joined two other premiere Big Sky quarterbacks as all-league first team choices, headlining Montana State's season-ending accolades.
Cooper, Lulay and Gatewood were among the eight Bobcats chosen to the All-Big Sky First Team by the league's coaches, and one other was named to the second team. Eight other Bobcats earned honorable mention accolades.
In addition, senior long snapper Dusty Daws earned Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his work last week against Montana, and throughout his career, as Montana State's long snapper. Daws has successfully executed 488 snaps in his career. None hindered the punt or placement from occurring, and only one hit the ground. The Bozeman native also registered three tackles this season.
Cooper, a senior linebacker, was named First Team All-Big Sky for the third straight season, and joined Kane Ioane, last year's league defensive MVP. Cooper shared that award with Brady Fosmark of Weber State. Cooper and a pair of second-time honorees, senior defensive end Ray Sebestyen and junior linebacker Mac Mollohan, landed on the league's first team all-conference list. Sophomore safety Ryan Force made the second team.
Gatewood, a junior receiver, capped his late charge toward first-team and co-Newcomer of the Year honors with a school-record 235-yard receiving day against Montana in the season finale. Lulay became MSU's first All-Big Sky quarterback since Kelly Bradley led the 'Cats to the 1984 National Championship. Three of the men up front joined Lulay and Gatewood as first team honorees. Senior tight end Blake Wolf, who led the league's tight ends in catches and yards, junior tackle Jeff Bolton, and junior guard Lawrence Figueroa each garnered first team honors.
MSU honorable mention honorees included: senior receiver Eddie Sullivan, junior center Zack Wolf, junior running back Justin Domineck, senior defensive end Chad Gluhm, senior lienbacker Jonathan Molock, junior safety Toph Grenfell, senior long snapper Dusty Daws, and Lulay, who earned honorable mention honors as a punter.
