Opheim’s Larson Joins Bobcat Track and Field/Cross Country Program

Larson will join older sister Kayla Larson on the MSU roster next fall.
“Jayme will bring a wide range of racing distances to the Montana State program,” Kennedy said. “I think she will have an immediate impact on our program.”
Larson was a two-time Montana Class B state cross country champion at Glasgow High School, where Opheim combined programs with the Scotties. Larson captured her titles in 2002 and 2003. This season, she was state runner-up in cross country.
In addition, Larson won the 2003 and 2004 state championship in the 800-meters and the 2004 state title at 1600-meters. She also finished fourth in the 2002 state meet in the 300-meter hurdles.
“With her hurdling background, along with her talent to run the middle distances, it indicates great potential in the steeplechase,” Kennedy said.
Larson has posted best marks of 2:20.4 at 800-meters; 5:14.3 at 1600-meters; and 47.4 in the 300-hurdles.
Larson plans to major in business management at MSU. She is the daughter of Jeff and Darla Larson of Opheim.
