Burrows Bucket Grounds Air Force

Bobcat senior Kati Burrows scored with 1.7-seconds remaining in overtime to lift Montana State to a 74-73 victory over Air Force in the opening round of the AFA-Radisson Inn Classic. Burrows finished with 16 points on six-of-11 from the field, including two three-pointers.
“We were pretty nervous at the start and Air Force got up by nine points, but we got ourselves together and closed the margin to two points at half,” said MSU interim head coach Greg Kudrna. “In the second half, we settled down and knocked down our shots.”
MSU sophomore Scotta Morton paced the Bobcats with a team-high 19 points on eight-of-12 from the field and a three-of-five effort from long distance. Also hitting double-digits for Montana State (1-0) were Hillary Scott 15 and Alyssa Nelson 11.
The Bobcats were paced under the boards by Whitney Connolly, who tallied seven rebounds, while Burrows and Morton added five apiece. Morton also dished out six assists, while Nelson chipped in five.
“We really responded in the second half and I’m pleased with our effort,” Kudrna said. “Both Kati and Whitney got in foul trouble, but we had other kids step-up. I really like our depth and balance.”
For the game, MSU shot 46 percent from the field and 53 percent (10-19) from three-point range.
Air Force (0-1) was led in the loss by Alicia Steele with 20 points and nine rebounds.
The Bobcats will face the winner of the UC Davis-Louisiana-Lafayette game, Saturday at 1 p.m.
