Bobcat Spikers Face Last Big Sky Road Trip

ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD: After a brief two-match homestand, the Montana State volleyball team will close out its road portion of the Big Sky Conference schedule at Northern Arizona and Sacramento State this weekend. The Bobcats will begin their weekend at NAU in Flagstaff, Thursday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. (MST). MSU will conclude the trip at Sacramento State, Saturday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. in Hornet Gym. Following this weekend’s road-trip, Montana State will play its final three matches in the cozy confines of Shroyer Gym.

CAT-CHAT: The Bobcats set a new team record over the weekend notching their seventh Big Sky match in which they have swept their opponent 3-0. The ‘Cats have recorded sweeps over Weber State (2), Sacramento State, Northern Arizona, Idaho State, Portland State and Montana...For the first time this season, MSU’s average attendance went over the 1,000 plateau. The Bobcats are averaging 1,044 fans, which ranks them 28th in the nation...Last week, middle blocker Megan Zanto was ranked 23rd in the country in block average at 1.57... Kamber Kelly continues her assault on the all-time MSU career digs record of 1,183 held by Stephanie Laya (1997-2000). Kelly notched 17 digs last weekend, and her career total now stands at 1,168 digs. In addition, Kelly’s 3,478 career assists are second all-time at MSU and 17th in Big Sky Conference history... MSU will try to match its longest winning streak of the season, when they go for their fourth straight victory at Northern Arizona on Thursday night.
CO-BIG SKY CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Megan Zanto led Montana State to an undefeated weekend to help the Bobcats hold strong at second place in the league standings. The native of Helena, Mont., averaged 4.50 kills and 1.50 blocks, while hitting an impressive .490 from the field as the Bobcats swept both Weber State and Idaho State. Against Weber State, Zanto notched 11 kills, a .476 attack mark and two blocks. The following night, the junior backed it up with 16 kills and .500 attack mark. She also notched seven blocks against the Bengals. With a total of 372 career block assists, Zanto is now third all-time at MSU and 16th in Big Sky Conference history. Zanto shares the award with Eastern Washington’s Lizzy Mellor.
