Bobcat Spikers Host Weber State, Idaho State

BACK TO THE COZY CONFINES: After playing five of its first seven Big Sky Conference matches on the road, the Montana State University volleyball team will be back in action within the cozy confines of Shroyer Gym. The Bobcats will host Weber State University, Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The ‘Cats will conclude their brief homestand against Idaho State University, Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. MSU will then head to Northern Arizona and Sacramento State, before closing the Big Sky regular-season with three straight at home.

CAT-CHAT: The Bobcats continued its weekend of streaks at Portland State and Eastern Washington. With its 3-0 victory over Portland State, MSU upped its consecutive win streak to 14 over the Vikings. On the other end, the ‘Cats dropped their seventh straight match to Eastern Washington, last Friday night...Speaking of streaks, Montana State has won nine consecutive matches at home against Idaho State in Shroyer Gym. The Bengals last victory at Montana State was a 3-1 decision on Nov. 5, 1994, in former MSU head coach Dave Gantt’s first season with the Bobcats. Gantt is now MSU’s all-time winningest coach and senior associate athletic director for external operations...Megan Zanto and Meggie Malyurek have each been nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors based on classroom and on-court performances ....Montana State’s 22 block assists against Portland State were its best net work since notching 28 block assists against Florida International on Sept. 17...Between games 2 and 3 on Friday night, Shroyer Gym will turn into the War of the Robots, as almost 100 of the little critters will invade the State Farm Sports Court. The robots are part of MSU’s Electrical Engineering 101 course.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kim Stonehouse, a 6-foot outside hitter from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts against Eastern Washington and Portland State. Stonehouse recorded 30 kills and ten digs on the weekend, including a career-high 19 kills in MSU’s 3-0 victory over Portland State. For the weekend, she averaged 4.29 kills and 1.42 digs per game. On the season, she has pounded down a team-best 206 kills.
