Eastern Washington Soars Past Bobcat Spikers

The victory moves EWU into first place in the Big Sky Conference, while the Bobcats drop into second place, one-game back.
“It was the trickle down theory,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “We didn’t pass very well from the outset, and every thing went downhill from there.
“Even though we won the second game, it was due to their errors,” Malauulu said. “If we want to be a championship caliber team, we cannot have this many mental mistakes.”
For the match, Montana State (12-5, 4-2) hit a season-low .063 from the field, while Eastern Washington hit at a .261 clip. The Eagles also held advantages in kills, service aces, digs and blocks.
In the loss, the Bobcats were paced by Meggie Malyurek with 12 kills, while Kim Stonehouse and Megan Zanto added 11 and ten, respectively. Sophomore Kandice Kelly led MSU in digs with a team-high 16 saves.
Montana State will be at Portland State, Saturday night.
