Bobcat Women Host BYU Tonight in Worthington Arena

The Montana State women’s basketball squad will return from a 14-day holiday break when they host Brigham Young University, Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 7:05 p.m., in Worthington Arena. The game will be MSU’s first since an 83-41 setback to UTEP in El Paso, Dec. 22. The Bobcats will close out their non-conference slate when they host Utah Valley State, Saturday, Jan. 10.

For the second straight season Dave Cowan will handle play-by-play duties of ALL regular and postseason Bobcat games on KSCY 96.7 (The Sky) FM.

Montana State will host its final two non-conference games against Brigham Young and Utah Valley State next week. The ‘Cats will open their Big Sky Conference season at Weber State on Jan. 15 in Ogden.
Scouting The Opponents:
Brigham Young is 6-4 overall and will host the University of San Francisco Jan. 3 before meeting the Bobcats. The Cougars have already played a pair of Big Sky Conference schools: defeating Weber State 68-51; and Idaho State 56-54. BYU will also face BSC school Northern Arizona on Jan. 8, in Flagstaff. The Cougars currently have three players averaging double-digit scoring, including Danielle Cheesman (12.3), Julie Sullivan (11.0) and Ambrosia Anderson (10.6). Both Sullivan and Anderson come off the bench for BYU. As a team, the Cougars are averaging 67.3 points, while shooting 38 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free throw line. BYU is led under the boards by Cheesman, a 6-foot-2 junior, who averages 7.1 rebounds per game. BYU is under the leadership of third-year head coach Jeff Judkins.

BYU holds an 8-3 edge in the all-time series, including an 87-70 win last year.
Montana State Player of the Week:
Montana State senior Belinda Stubbs, a 6-foot-2 center from Ayr, Australia, was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts against UTEP prior to the holiday break. Stubbs paced MSU in scoring against the Miners with 13 points. She was the only Bobcat to reach double-figures in the loss. In addition, she tallied two rebounds in 26 minutes of action. For the game, she was four-of-12 from the field and five-of-six from the charity stripe. On the year, Stubbs is averaging 7.4 points per game.
