Creighton Defeats Montana State 5-2 in Women¹s Tennis

“I’m very pleased with our effort,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “For the first match of the season we were very competitive. One of the goals this weekend was to gain valuable match experience, and we took a big step towards that against Creighton.”
MSU’s two victories in singles action were from Vera Vasileva, who defeated Megan Kowal at No. 1, 6-4, 6-4. The other victory was at No. 4 singles, where Ivette Duran bested Kim Cavan 7-5, 2-6, and 10-6 in a tiebreaking pro set.
Duran and Vasileva also teamed up for Montana State’s lone win in doubles at No. 2, defeating Christy Roth and Deidre Senders 9-7.
The Bobcat will face nationally ranked Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday.
