Bobcat Women Run Past Sacramento State

Montana State junior Kati Burrows notched her fourth double-double of the season, recording a game-high 15 points and ten rebounds to lift the Bobcats to a 71-39 victory over Sacramento State, Thursday night. The win was MSU’s first Big Sky Conference victory of the season.
“I’m very pleased with the way we played,” said MSU head coach Robin Potera-Haskins. “We were able to get our transition game going and we knocked down some shots in the opening minutes and that really set the tone for the rest of the game.”
Montana State (9-8, 1-3) opened the game on a 20-4 run and built the margin to 39-13 at intermission. The Bobcats shot 55 percent from the field in the opening stanza, while holding Sacramento State (1-17, 1-4) to only 13 percent.
In the second half, MSU built its largest margin 61-25 at the 8:35 mark following a Burrows field-goal.
“We were very balanced with our scoring and we had some great contributions from a number of kids,” Potera-Haskins said. “We showed that we can be a very good team.”
Also in double-figures for the Bobcats were Joanna Hixon and Sheila Hutchison. Hixon, a freshman from Reno, Nevada, finished the game with a career-high 14 points, on seven-of-ten from the field. Hutchison ended the game with ten points, seven rebounds and three steals.
The Hornets were paced in the loss by Stephanie Cherry with 13 points and four rebounds.
For the game, MSU shot 49 percent from the field, while Sac State went 18 percent from the floor. The Bobcats held a 48-37 advantage on the boards.
MSU will host Northern Arizona on Saturday night.
