Montana State Skiers Remain 6th at Utah Invitational

Friday afternoon, the Bobcat women’s and men’s Nordic teams combined for 64 points in the classical race, which puts them 2.5 points ahead of Nevada.
New Mexico leads the Utah Invitational with 429 points, followed by Denver 416, Utah 412, Colorado 332.5, Alaska Anchorage 278.5, MSU 223.5, Nevada 221, Western State 171.5, Whitman 136, Boise State 106.5.
In the women’s 10-kilometer classic race, MSU was paced by Mandy Bowden, who finished 22nd overall in a time of 17:40.2. Other Bobcat contributors were Rachel Goldstein, 26th, 18:15.4; Emily Robins, 32nd, 18:42.4; and Charis Gullickson, 36th, 19:05.4.
The women’s race was won by Martina Stursova of Denver in a clocking of 15:53.8.
The Bobcat men were paced in the 15-kilometer event by Christian Coe, who placed 24th in a time of 31:58.7. He was followed by Travis Hansen, 26th, 32:00.9; and Ryan Holtan, 35th, 33:30.6.
Henning Dybendal of Utah claimed top honors in a time of 27:43.4.
The invitational will finish Saturday with the Nordic freestyle races.
