Munteanu Sisters Pace Bobcats at Nevada Invite

Freshman Smaranda Munteanu cruised to a fourth place showing in the giant slalom with a two-run time of 2:04.68, while older sister Alex placed seventh overall in a time of 2:05.19. Results for other MSU competitors in the men’s and women’s giant slalom and slalom were unavailable.
In Nordic competition, Emily Robins paced MSU in the women’s five-kilometer freestyle, finishing ninth overall in a time of 13:54.4. Also finishing for the Bobcats were Rachel Goldstein, 26th, 14:45.8; Mandy Bowden, 29th, 14:58.3; and Charis Gullickson, 40th, 15:57.40.
Mandy Kaempf of Alaska-Anchorage won the event with a time of 13:02.6
Robins also paced the ‘Cats in the 15-kilometer classic race, placing 17th in a time of 49:46.5. She was followed by Bowden, 27th, 52:48.6; and Goldstein, 30th, 54:12.3.
Kaempf also won the 15-kilometer crown in a time of 46:12.2.
In men’s Nordic action, MSU was led by Ryan Holton in the 10-kilometer freestyle. Holton finished 38th in a time of 27:59.2. Other Bobcat competitors included Travis Hansen, 41st, 28:25.1; Adam Becker, 42nd, 28:29.1; and Christian Coe, 43rd, 28:32.8.
Erlend Hoff of Denver won the 10K race in a time of 23:55.3.
In the 20-kilometer classic race, the Bobcat were paced by Coe and Hansen, who finished 31st and 32nd, respectively.
Denver won the team title at the Nevada Invitational with 597 points, followed by Colorado 521, New Mexico 515, Utah 496, Alaska-Anchorage 425, Nevada 358, Montana State 244, Western State 222, Whitman 195 and Boise State 73.
