Bobcat Women Open Big Sky Season at Weber State

For the second straight season Dave Cowan will handle play-by-play duties of ALL regular and postseason Bobcat games on KSCY 96.7 (The Sky) FM. Cowan will begin his broadcast with a pre-game show 20-minutes prior to tip.
Big Sky Conference Opener:
Montana State will open its 16th season in the Big Sky Conference at Weber State on Thursday night. The Bobcats are 12-3 all-time in league openers, including a 4-1 mark against Weber State University. MSU has won its last three consecutive openers (Weber St., Portland St., E. Washington), with its last opening night loss coming to Montana in 2000.
Scouting The Opponents:
Weber State is 6-7 overall and has won its last four consecutive games, including victories over Wyoming and Air Force, last weekend. The Wildcats, who have claimed the last two Big Sky Conference tourney titles, are paced by junior Julie GjertsEn (last year’s co-MVP), who averages 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Angela Sampson leads WSU under the boards, averaging 6.1 rebounds per game, while sharp-shooter Sheila Robertson is averaging 2.2 treys per contest. Idaho State is 8-4 overall and will host Montana on Thursday, before facing the Bobcats. The Bengals have four players in double-digits led by Heidi Gifford at 14.4 ppg. Also in double-figures are Molly Hays (13.8), Christa Brossman (13.7) and Lindy Whitley (12.6).

The Bobcats are 29-24 all-time against Weber State, but have dropped four of its last six meetings with the Wildcats. Montana State has also lost its last nine games in Ogden. MSU is 35-13 all-time against Idaho State and have won four straight over the Bengals.
Montana State Player of the Week:
Montana State junior Kati Burrows was named Montana State’s Player of the Week for her efforts against BYU and Utah Valley. Burrows, a 5-foot-10 forward from Bozeman, averaged 15 points and five rebounds per game over the course of the two games. Burrows notched 16 points and four rebounds against BYU and had 14 points, while shooting 50 percent from the field against Utah Valley State.
