The Montana State volleyball team will host its second tournament of the non-conference season when they host the Wingate INNvitational this weekend, Sept. 19-20 in Shroyer Gym. The tournament will open with Marquette and Gonzaga at 5 p.m., followed by Wyoming and Montana State at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Wyoming meets Marquette at 10 a.m., followed by MSU and Gonzaga at 12 noon, Wyoming and Gonzaga at 5 p.m., and concludes with Marquette and the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m.

REWRAPPING THE WEEK THAT WAS:
After finishing second in its previous two tournament, the Bobcats finally broke through to claim the championship title at the Eastern Michigan Invitational, last weekend in Ypsilanti. MSU opened the tournament with a 30-23, 30-26, 30-19 win over Western Illinois. Against the Leathernecks, Montana State was paced by sophomore Megan Zanto with nine kills and a .450 hitting percentage. Freshman redshirt Kim Stonehouse came off the bench to spark the ‘Cats with eight kills, a .269 hitting percentage and four digs. On Saturday morning, MSU opened play with a 20-30, 30-18, 30-24, 30-18 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay. MSU was led by Stonehouse and Meggie Malyurek with 13 kills apiece. Stonehouse also hit .385 from the field and added two blocks, while Malyurek also chipped in 12 digs and three blocks. Setter Kamber Kelly dished out 42 assists and had a team-high 19 digs. In the championship match, Malyurek guided the ‘Cats with 14 kills and 18 digs, while Zanto added 13 kills and eight blocks as MSU posted a 21-30, 30-19, 30-22, 30-24 win over Eastern Michigan. Kelly also played a major role in the victory with her first triple-double of the season with ten kills, 40 assists and ten digs. For their efforts, Zanto was named tourney MVP, while Stonehouse and Malyurek earned all-tournament team recognition.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sophomore Megan Zanto was named Montana State’s Player of the Week, after guiding the Bobcats to the championship of the Eastern Michigan Invitational as well as garnering tournament MVP honors. For the weekend, the 6-foot-3 middle blocker from Helena, averaged 3.00 kills and 1.46 blocks per game, while hitting .325 from the field.
CROWD CRAZY: Montana State set a new opening night attendance record when 1,704 fans jammed Shroyer Gym two weeks agoas the ‘Cats met #14 Kansas State. The attendance was also the fifth largest in MSU history. After week two, Montana State is ranked 16th in the nation in attendance at 1,111.
