Bobcat volleyball team ranked among nation's best academically

The Bobcats ranked seventh in the nation at the NCAA Division I level in terms of team grade-point average with a 3.51 team cumulative mark. Thirty-five NCAA Division I programs received the honor.
“The AVCA Team Academic Award captures the true essence of the student-athlete, and we’re honored to recognize these schools for excellence in the classroom,” said AVCA Executive Director Katherine McConnell. “We are especially pleased to bestow this prestigious award to a record number of teams for the second year in a row.”
A record eight Bobcat players earned All-Big Sky Conference Academic kudos last season, including Nikki Donald, Aimee Halyk, Kamber Kelly, LeAnn Kinvig, Meggie Malyurek, Kiki Pemoller, Ana Schanze and Megan Zanto.
“Our number one goal is for the student-athletes to be successful in the classroom,” said Bobcat head coach Miya Malauulu. “The kids have bought into the philosophy that we can achieve both on and off the court.
“We have a great University and an outstanding support system,” Malauulu said. “I’m proud that our kids are doing an excellent job attaining their goals.”
Two years ago, the Bobcats ranked ninth in the country.
