A THUMBNAIL SKETCH:
One word can best decribe this season’s Bobcat squad. Young. With one senior and two juniors on the squad, the rest of the roster is made-up of sophomores and freshmen. MSU will begin the fall with two juniors, two sophomores and three freshmen in its starting seven. The 2003 squad will be anchored by two-year starter Kamber Kelly at the setting position. Kelly, a native of Roundup, was the 2001 Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year, before garnering All-Big Sky honorable mention accolades last season. Fellow junior LeAnn Kinvig will start her second year for the Bobcats, after transferring from Grand Prairie Regional College. Last season, she notched 357 digs, which was the third highest ever recorded in a single-season at MSU. Sophomore Megan Zanto will lead the Bobcat middles. Last season, the Helena native averaged 1.40 blocks per game, which ranked her 23rd in the nation. Sophomore Meggie Malyurek, an on-and-off again starter last fall, made big strides during the off-season and will counted on heavily this year. Redshirt-freshman Angela Wiebe, along with true-freshmen Nadine Göldi and Kandice Kelly will round-out the starting seven. Kandice Kelly is the younger sister of setter Kamber.
